Saving the World

22nd. May, 2011 | 06:22 pm

I thought about writing this entry last night, but couldn't quite put my finger on exactly what I'd say. It's the end of an era; characters that we've known and loved for years have now drifted into NPC space. The current shard of Farshores carries on in its own little bubble, after about four years of play time.

In which I ramble about the adventure and expand on Ember's epilogue a bit.Collapse )

Welcome to the update in the land of Lucieness.

So, as most of you are aware, on Wednesday I went to see a neurologist about the suspected seizures I've been having recently. Despite my complete and utter terror at this prospect (mostly of being dismissed off-hand), the guy was really great and helpful and listened to what I have to say. I have now been diagnosed with epilepsy, specifically focal seizures in the temporal lobe.

For more information on what that means, linky. There's loads more out there, but that's the basics. For me, it tends to be deja vu accompanied by a sense of vast, intensely unpleasant unease. Afterwards I feel disorientated, and sometimes unsure where/when I am.

It's not a huge deal. The biggest thing it'll really affect is my ability to drive. When I get them, they're unpleasant, but they don't completely bugger up my life. At some point in the next few weeks I'll be getting an MRI to check there's nothing 'sinister' underlying it, but given the consultant thinks I've had it for most of my life that's pretty unlikely.

This is pretty much just an entry to bring people up to speed. It's been a bit weird/overwhelming, and has happened surprisingly fast.

In the spirit of starting my downtime earlier so as not to get caught out again, apart from Mish, did I promise anyone anything?

Sharing a Song

Just in the mood to share this.

I make no secret of the fact that I am a terrible Paramore fangirl, and this one just always makes me smile.

Farshores and Stuff

31st. Oct, 2010 | 10:36 am

I used to do these after every live, and I've been out of the habit for quite a long time. In the spirit of being SUPER KEEN about LARP this term, I'm going to start doing them again.

However, before any of that, I do need to inform you that my uncle responded to my cousin's facebook status with 'rohypnol?'. I hardly know the man, but I love him.

Back to the LARPCollapse )

Entertainment in the Waiting Room

24th. Sep, 2010 | 06:32 pm

My doctor's appointment today was forty-five minutes late. In this time, I managed to garner every tiny possible bit of amusement out of the noticeboard that I believe it is possible for me to do so. Some of these unexpected bits of laughter I will share with you now.

First of all, the board tried to diagnose me. "It's cancer. You're bound to have questions."

I objected. Then, uncertain of its initial diagnosis, it suggested narrowing it down a little. "Free electric blanket testing".

Having decided that I was definitely not an electric blanket, I leave you with this, which still makes me giggle for no reason other than pure childishness:

"Apparently, lesbians do need smear tests."

Emphasis not mine.

Today, we got THE INTERNET. I am most thrilled and excited and bouncy about this. Communication with the world again! Yay! So many things I really enjoy, once again available at the touch of a...

...where the fuck is my authenticator.

Oh no you didn't, world.
